Phobias and Fears -Treatment at Toronto Hypnotherapy and Pure Hypnoanalysis
A phobia is an anxiety disorder where the phobic person exhibits an intense and irrational fear towards an object or a situation (i. e..social settings).
While most people carry around fears and phobias, such as heights or spiders, they tend to overcome those fears quite easily and it has no major effect on their lives. For many others their phobia has a much larger if not total grip on their lives. They will avoid social situations at all costs, they wont visit family overseas for fear of flying or they will not go out of their homes. Put short, they have less freedom in life.
Pure Hypnoanalysis is the worlds best therapy for curing phobias and fears. It is fast, effective and completely liberating because it removes not just the phobia, but its underlying cause. Why do Phobias form and why Pure Hypnoanalysis is so effective
Phobias are expressions of bottled-up, unconscious emotional issues that are generally formed in childhood. These emotions, though unconscious, can have a profound impact on ones life and left untreated, find 'outlets' in the form of anxiety and symptom formation. For a person with a phobia, these emotions find their 'outlet' in the fear of objects or situations. On top of their phobia, they also tend to have other anxiety issues.
Because the cause is unconscious, it is impossible to fix the problem intellectually, something a person suffering from a phobia knows all to well. Their efforts to 'just get over it' or 'just don't think about it' are fruitless as their fear is something inside of them, but outside their conscious control.
To cure a phobia, one has to resolve its original cause, which as stated above is hidden within the subconscious. Pure Hypnoanalysis allows the sufferer to release their bottled-up, unconscious emotions in a very effective and gentle manner. Over the course of 8-12 sessions we slowly link your thoughts and memories back in time (using a process of free-association) to the unconscious memories and emotions that are causing the symptoms to form. Once the unconscious emotional issues are brought to light, their impact on the person disappears, forever. Although it sounds easy, it requires a lot of trust on the part of the sufferer and empathy, understanding and support from the therapist.
Why traditional hypnotherapy falls short
Traditional hypnotherapy falls short because it deals only with the symptom and not the cause. In traditional hypnotherapy, your phobia of let's say spiders, would be suggested away under hypnosis with suggestions like 'you feel calm and at ease at the site of a spider'. While you will probably leave the hypnotherapist feeling less anxious at the sight of spiders, the originating cause of that symptom, the bottled-up emotions have not been addressed.
Because the unconscious emotions are still there, they will find an 'outlet'. So you may not fear spiders any longer, but now you fear social situations or you are more anxious in general. This is known as symptom substitution and is a very real phenomenon.
Worse yet, suggestions from a hypnotherapist don't always last forever, so in a few months time, your phobia may well return.
For these reasons, traditional hypnotherapy (suggestion therapy) is not recommended for phobias.
Why other therapies fall short
CBT, EFT, NLP, Psychotherapy and Counseling again only deal with the symptoms and thus while you may feel much better as a result, the underlying cause will continue to manifest in other areas of your life.
